News & Details
- Summer sausage and pepperettes have arrived! See product list for info and text or email to order.
- Please note that pricing has changed in May 2026. See the Product and Price List for details, including the 'Pricing Update May 2026' tab for an explanation.
- Orders with more than 50% by weight of low-margin products (eg. ground, and all sausage types (breakfast, farmer, summer, pepperette)) will be given less than a 20% discount - specifically, if 50-75% of the order by weight is ground or sausage the discount will be 10%, and if 75-100% of the order by weight is ground or sausage the discount will be 0%. This doesn't apply to subscriptions or meat/egg subscriber purchases. Rationale? If an entire cow goes into ground or sausage, we lose money - it's only the steaks and roasts that tip the scale in favor of profitability.
- Added to the product and price list a breakdown of subscription (egg only, and egg+meat) options. There is a cap of 2 pkg of ground beef per week.
- If the standard delivery day doesn't work, you're welcome to come to the farm to pickup the order. Pre-order, and mention pickup, and the products will be left in a cooler on the porch. No face-to-face contact or coordination needed. Invoice and pay after. Extra discount may apply.
- We won’t be doing a formal open house this year, but I would like to have a casual barbeque/potluck at the farm some summer weekend for our customers and partners. Stay tuned, and let me know if you have a preferred date.
- Pre-orders for 2026 poultry will begin in August. Whole or half turkeys will be pickup on Friday October 9 @ 6 pm. Whole chickens will be pickups on Thursday November 3 @ 6 pm, or Thursday December 1 @ 6 pm. Not sure if/when we will do pigs - maybe later fall/winter.
- We don't anticipate taking any new customers for eggs or weekly beef subscriptions. There is no waitlist. Ad hoc orders, including local delivery, will continue going forward.
- Volunteers and employees of partner organizations (The SEED, The Guelph Food Bank, Elora Distilling Company, Fixed Gear Brewery, Farm League Brewing, Revel Cidery, and Polestar Hearth Bakery) are always eligible for 30% off beef and pork prices!
- Discounts are available only for beef & pork as they are supported by the waste food products (brewers and distillers grains, vegetables, fruit, pomace, and bread) from partners. Poultry (turkey, duck, and chicken) depend upon purchased ration and do not have the same margins, so no discounts are available at this time.
- Some merchandise is available - hoodies, tshirts, hats, and toques. Contact for more info or see the product listing above.

About Us
- We are located near Ariss/Ponsonby, just north of Guelph and south of Elora, Ontario. We raise our animals on pasture - beef cattle and egg layers year round, and turkeys, pigs, and meat chickens (and ducks) seasonally. We also make maple syrup in the spring, and sell compost for your garden.
- If pricing is your most important consideration, you may find that better sale prices occur at Walmart or Costco. Other large farms locally may offer a large selection and quick availability of low cost bulk beef.
- Our goal is to offer great value to people that care about the source of their food. If you care about the animals, farming principles, buying and supporting local, at a good value point, we may be your best bet. What makes our farm unique is how we focus not on profit but that we help to divert food waste, reduce chemical and other costly inputs in favor of natural and low cost amendments to the soil, value sustainability, serve and support our community, and create the best possible environment for the animals (uncrowded, freedom to roam, pastured on grass, under sun and open sky and fresh air).
- The animals are fed a balanced ration of brewers grains from a couple of local breweries, distillers grains from a local distillery, pomace (crushed fruit) from a cidery, and lots of fresh fruit & vegetables and bakery byproduct from local businesses. There are no hormones, and only essential antibiotics if needed.
- Our beef is nicely marbled, and by raising Holstein steer calves, it's not too fatty while being extra fine grained.
- We are proudly all Canadian, and super local - the animals, their feed sources, processing, and most of our customers are all within 40 km of the farm. We deliver to the north half of Guelph every weekend, and to other locations as needed.
- We participate in agriculture improvement activities, such as the Wellington County Experimental Acres program, and the Wellington County Green Legacy tree sapling planting program.
